Accuracy research helps BC Gov understand whether AI systems are reliable enough for real workflows. We compare outputs, measure failure modes, and document the evidence needed before a model or workflow is scaled.
In plain terms: Why It Matters Evaluation OCR Report Papers
Why It Matters
Accuracy testing helps decide whether an AI workflow should be adopted, changed, handed off, or stopped.
Good demos are not enough. We need to know where a model fails, how often, and what the operational impact is.
Accuracy work should estimate how much human review remains, not only whether the system can produce an answer.
The most accurate option may not be the best operational choice if it is too slow, expensive, or hard to support.
Evaluation Shape
Use real or realistic samples that reflect the forms, documents, images, language, and edge cases teams handle.
For document AI, measure exact fields, missing values, hallucinations, parseability, and confidence separately.
Accuracy should connect to the service workflow: triage speed, review effort, exception handling, and risk.
Notebooks, scripts, reports, and datasets should make results reproducible and easier to hand off.
Representative Report
The Cross-Engine OCR Extraction Comparison Report is an example of the evidence pattern: compare multiple extraction approaches, score results, capture cost and failure modes, then use the evidence to inform whether a workflow is ready for pilot, handoff, scale, or further testing.
Head-to-head comparison of OCR and VLM extraction approaches for SDPR-style forms, focused on field accuracy, cost, and practical workflow fit.
Apply the same evaluation shape to other partner workloads: define the task, collect representative samples, compare model/runtime options, measure accuracy and failure modes, and document operational tradeoffs.
